weekly TBR additions

Weekly TBR Additions (18. April 2017.)

A weekly feature where I tell you about books I discovered recently.

It’s funny how once you get to uni, holidays don’t mean rest anymore. They just mean more time to dedicate to studying. Really fun. Now, what actually is fun is all new books I found in the last week. All of them sound super cool, and I can’t wait to pick some of them up.

1. Double Bind: Women on Ambition edited by Robin Romm

Why I added it: A frequent occurrence on my blog: feminist essays. These one tackle one of my favorite topics: ambitious, driven women. I think goal-oriented women are so frowned upon, and I’d love to hear some thoughts on this from some awesome female writers. So yay!

2. If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

Why I added it: This is a story that just has my name written all over it. It’s set on a campus, it revolves around a group of students and a murder that happens. Seems reminiscent of The Secret History by Donna Tartt (which I still haven’t read by the way) and I am all for privileged kids going crazy at school. Kind of like How to Get Away With Murder which I adore.

3. A Little More Human by Fiona Maazel

A Little More Human: A Novel

Why I added it: Because it sounds absolutely ridiculous and I love it. It’s about a guy who pretends he is a superhero as a job, but has actual superhero powers like mind reading. And then I’m guessing everything goes to hell? Don’t care, I am all for it.

4. The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen

The Surgeon (Rizzoli & Isles, #1)

Goodreads

Why I added it: I saw this on Booktube somewhere and it sounded great. It’s a thriller that follows two detectives (with great chemistry apparently) who investigate a killer who targets women and then does some surgical stuff to them? I don’t really know, but I love thrillers where there’s an interesting dynamic between the detectives. Kind of like Broadchurch. Please check that out if you haven’t, it’s spectacular.

As always, please tell me your thoughts on these books, and share your recent finds with me as well!

  1. If We Were Villains sounds so good! I can’t believe I haven’t heard of it before! I was reading The Secret History, and it was really good, but I borrowed it from Overdrive and had to return it, and I didn’t think I’d get to it in time because it was so big! XD I had to do the same with The Goldfinch, but I’m hoping to get back to both of them!

I didn’t know Rizzoli and Isles were books! I’m pretty sure it’s a TV show on TNT! I don’t know if it’s still on, but that’s so interesting! πŸ˜€
