Top Books on my Reread List

Time for some rereads!

When I was younger, I use to reread books constantly. I’d find what I like, and then I would stick with it. I’d finish a book, and then just flip it over and start again. However, when I found Goodreads and Tumblr, I found so many new books I wanted to read. My TBR grew. So given the influx of new books, I stopped rereading my favorites. I just did not have time. But there are definitely books I hope to reread soon. I know I love them, I just don’t remember the details. And who doesn’t want to experience their faves again. There are obviously books I loved, but I do not dare reread, because I know I’ll hate them. But that’s a topic for another post. For now, here are my top books I’d like to reread, in no particular order:

1. The Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan

These are some of my favorite books ever. They got me into the Middle Grade/YA genre and I just love the humor and the characters of this story. I also think the plot’s engaging and I think Riordan’s take on Greek mythology is super fun! However, I don’t remember much of the actual details (especially in the PJ series) so I am looking forward to rereading these soon(ish).

2. The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan

This is such an underappreciated series! I think it’s as good as Percy Jackson, but I don’t think it gets as much attention! While I prefer the characters of the PJ series, the Egyptian mythology featured in the Kane Chronicles is fascinating and I loved what Riordan did with it. I remember even less of the details in this series, so I am going to be getting to it as well! If you haven’t read this, but you love Riordan, HIGHLY recommend you do it ASAP.

3. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

This is one of my favorite books of all time. It’s sharp and intelligent and also laugh out loud funny. It’s one of those books that while you’re reading it, you’re constantly thinking “This is so clever!”. And it’s also quite mellow on the SciFi elements so it can be a great introduction to the genre. Much love for the book. I NEED TO REREAD IT.

4. Blue is for Nightmares by Laurie Faria Stolarz

Now, I will say I remember very little about this. BUT. Some of that little includes remembering I loved it. This is a real creepy YA novel that deals with a WITCH. It’s really cool. And I remember being genuinely scared while reading this which never happens. Definitely have to reread this.

5. The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer

Another book I ADORED but remember nothing of. Except. THIS DEALS WITH CLONES. There’s like this weird country called Opium and it’s full of clones? I have no idea. But I adored it back when I read it. Definitely overdue for a reread.

6. The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling

I have mentioned my love for this book a lot of times. It’s superb. Small town, drama, intrigue, flawed characters just trying to get by… All the great stuff. Really want to reread it.

7. His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman

Get it on Book Depository

Another one of my childhood faves. I remember being obsessed with this book and desperately wanting a daemon of mine own. The whole concept of daemon’s as manifestations of the inner self is spectacular. And about the only thing I remember. Definitely getting to these soon.

8. The Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

Again, one of my favorite books of all time. I remember it in full detail, but I still want to be in complete awe with Sanderson’s storytelling abilities. A spectacular Fantasy series that you should be reading right now. I am just waiting to finish the spin off books in the series (that are out so far) and then I’ll be rereading this and loving it all over again.

So those are my top priorities on the reread list right now! Do you reread books? What are some that you’re going to be rereading? Let’s chat in the comments below!

  1. I need to re-read the Percy Jackson series as well! I haven’t read it since middle school, and I can barely remember anything. XD I’ve also been wanting to re-read The Hunger Games series since that’s also another series I loved, but haven’t read since middle school. It’s been so long!

  2. I have yet to even get to the Percy Jackson and Mistborn series for the FIRST time yet! Lol. I’ve heard such amazing things about them though that I have a feeling that they will end up on my reread list as well!

    1. In terms of sequels, they have no connection to the original trilogy (except in minor details that are there mainly as nods to the original trilogy, and not in any way detrimental to the plot) so you can definitely jump straight into the sequels, if that’s your concern 😊
