recent TBR additions

Weekly TBR Additions (15. September 2017.)

A weekly feature in which I share new books I added to my TBR.

I swear to god, time is moving too fast for me to grasp. It’s already midway through September, uni will be back in session soon, and I have so many books I want to read. It’s all happening right now. Anyways, let’s get on with it, shall we?

1. The Husband Stitch by Carmen Maria Machado

The Husband Stitch

Read it online

Why I added it: This is a short story which focuses on a marriage, which always make me want to pick up something immediately. Marriage fascinates me. This one has a weird premise: it’s about a marriage in which the woman always wears a ribbon around her neck and it’s the only “part” of her that the husband isn’t allowed to touch. It sounds super strange, but also super good, so I am looking forward to it.

2. Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker

Why I added it: Well, basically, Janel @ Keeper of Pages did a review of it, and then I had to read it. That’s how her reviews work for me. And plus, this features sisters and kidnapping and a forensic psychiatrist, which are all things I like.

3. Warcross by Marie Lu

Warcross (Warcross, #1)

Book Depository

Why I added it: I’ve been debating this one, since I am not a huge fan of Marie Lu’s previous work. However, this has been getting so much buzz, including a recommendation from Liberty from Book Riot, who reads entirely different books. So that finally sold it to me. This is basically a Ready Player one with a female protagonist, which sounds all kinds of great.

4. Tyler Johnson Was Here by Jay Coles

Why I added it: Mostly for the cover. LOOK AT IT. Absolutely stunning. But also, this book is giving me The Hate U Give vibes and it sounds super amazing. It follows Marvin, whose twin brother was shot by the police after a party, and I guess it follows the aftermath of that horrendous event. It sounds important and sad and great. I am excited for it.

That’s it for this week’s TBR additions! As always, I’d love to hear about new books you’ve discovered and added to your TBRs!

  1. Awesome post!! We hope you enjoy your last bit of time before uni starts up again! Our uni resumed a few weeks back, and it is definitely annoying how much it cuts into our reading time!

And we have been debating on whether or not to put Warcross on our TBR too! There is so much hype for it that it makes us nervous! But a book that we have put on our TBR recently is An Enchanment of Ravens! It sounds amazing and we can’t wait for it to come out at the end of the month 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! I am squeezing in as much reading time as I can, since it will definitely cut into my reading time as well! I’ve been seeing An Enchantment of Ravens EVERYWHERE, I hope it’s really good, because it looks stunning 😊

    1. I know you’ve read and loved Warcross, so that’s a definite plus for it! AND YEAH, that cover is gorgeous, I want to hang it on my wall. Honestly, I am so bad at reading thrillers since they creep me out, but I always get excited about them 😂

  2. I hope you love Emma in the Night, I’m hoping to read her previous book, All is Not Forgotten soon.

Uni starts for me too next week, although I’m going straight on clinical placement for seven weeks so I should say work starts next week haha
