Time is getting away for me.
Cue the obligatory complaining about time. I CAN’T BELIEVE that April is almost over. I am going to graduate soon, we’re almost half way through the year AND I AM FREAKING OUT. Seriously, I need a pause on time for like a month. Can it be May 1st for a month or so? Thanks.
Anyways, let’s talk about nice things in April, and forget about the fact that I am getting older by the second, okay?
Favorite Book
I managed to read 5 books (okay 4 books and a graphic trade, but still) in April, and with the amount of stuff I had going on that’s GREAT. It could have easily been zero books. My favorite of the month was definitely Children of Blood and Bone. I loved the setting and Adeyemi’s writing is incredibly vibrant and transports you into the story almost instantly. I really think this story is amazing and there’s so much potential in it, so I am beyond excited to see where it goes. You can read more of my thoughts on it here.
Favorite Movie
I watched Thor: Ragnarok this month and I really loved it. I mean, it pushed the boundaries of ridiculous but I LOVE that. It’s the kind of dumb humor I enjoy and I generally love the character of Thor. And we got a female villain (yay!) AND we got Tessa Thompson as a Valkyrie. And the Hulk was there. I mean, I couldn’t NOT enjoy the movie.
Favorite Music
Music was GOOD in April. We got A Good Night from John Legend which is such a bop honestly. Also, we got a ton of great Khalid features (I Love Him). The new Ariana song is AMAZING, I keep listening to it non stop. THE ALBUM OF THE MONTH is Tinashe’s Joyride and everyone’s sleeping on it, which is ridiculous. IT’S AMAZING. Go listen to it. Now. Everything is, as per usual, in the playlist.

I don’t know if you’re interested in these sorts of things, but here are two bookish shops I am loving right now, and their designs.
Hey Atlas – they do THE BEST quotes on bookmarks, journals, prints – you name it. And they have this really modern style and it’s quite cool and unique.
Alchemy & Ink – I am in love with their stuff, they have the prettiest candles ever. AND their bookmarks are gorgeous, so I got some for myself.
And those are this month’s favorites! I’d love to hear from you. Let me know in the comments what were your favorite books, movies, tv shows, music – anything really!

YES I totally agree with you, Thor was hilarious. I ordinarily scoff at silly movies like this, but this one was just too campy and ridiculous NOT to enjoy. And that Alchemy and Ink bookmark really is lovely! I think I’ll have to get that particular one for myself (Kylo Ren fangirl here). 😉
Thank you so much for featuring my post here by the way! I’m very flattered that you liked my review. 😛 Keep up the terrific work, and cheers! ❤

I still need to read Children of Blood and Bone but hopefully I’ll manage to get to it within the next couple of months.
I don’t really take much notice anymore of new mainstream music, but one song I’ve been hearing a lot and surprisingly loving is Paloma Faith’s new song, Make Your Own Kind of Music. I have only just discovered that it is a copy of a song first recorded back in 1968 but I love its catchiness and overall message. It makes a nice change from a lot of the new music I hear constantly replayed on the radio.

Children of Blood and Bone is fantastic, I hope you enjoy it. I wish I was like that, but I am a sucker for mainstream music. I’ve heard that one, it’s really good!

Thank you so much for featuring my post, it means a lot!
I’m so glad you enjoyed Ragnarok! It’s one of my favourites and I completely agree that it comes very close to being too much, but I mean comics are already ridiculous and too much, so maybe that just made the movie more accurately filmed??
I’m glad you enjoyed Children of Blood and Bone, I figure I’m late to the party with this one but it sounds amazing!

Of course! Oh I loved that it was ridiculous, don’t get me wrong. I genuinely enjoy the silliness in Marvel’s movies, and I loved that this took it to the extreme 😁 CoBaB is fantastic!

Great wrap-up, 5 books is impressive! I don’t really use bookmarks, but the Hey Atlas ones look super cute!! 🙂

Thor: Ragnarok is my favorite movie EVER! It’s so amazing and the soundtrack is so great as well. Also, I have been really wanting the Kylo Ren bookmark and candle from Alchemy and Ink so bad but it’s sold out. 😦 Do you know if she does restocks?

IT’s such a fun movie. And you’re right, the soundtrack is AMAZING. Yeah, I am sure they do restocks, because I can see that some bookmarks that were sold out when I was ordering mine are now available on the site. I am sure they have those restock announcement on their Instagram page 🙂

oh myyy thank you sm for including my post!! when you mentioned graduating and the horrribllleeee fear of just getting older I felt so understood?? I’m almost a senior in college and that seems so impossible, I don’t want to stop being 21 xD and I agree about Tomi, her writing was so well done, I admire her plot talent sm

Of course, I really loved it! THE FEAR IS REAL. I would also quite gladly accept being frozen at 22. Tomi is amazing!

Good for you for even reading 4 books when you had so much going on! I don’t read nearly as much as many other bloggers, but we all have our stuff going on. I’m sure there’ll be times when I’m able to read way more, but now isn’t one of them.

Yeah same! I get frustrated but I am embracing the fact that I just don’t have time to read as much as I used to 😊

Thor Ragnarok was great. I loved the villain Hela, cate blanchett totally nailed the role. She made Thor look like a small boy 😂😂, he couldn’t stop her. I really like your Eldeweiss post, really helpful and detailed.
