OMG This Song Book Tag

I haven’t done a tag in ages…

I was thinking about what I would do for today’s post and then it hit me: the lovely Kayla over @ Kdrewthebookworm tagged me to do the OMG This Song Book Tag. I love music so much, and I clearly love books, so this is a match made in heaven really. Thank you to Kayla and please go check out her blog, it’s great!

This tag was originally created by Katesbookdate on Yotube!

The main premise is that for each question you pick a book and a song. I have put all of the songs into a Spotify playlist for you, because I am nice like that! So let’s get into it!

1. My Jam:

A Song You Must Listen To Every Time It Comes On, No Matter How Old Or How Many Times You’ve Listened To It / A Book You’ll Never Get Sick Of

1

I really adore Beyonce’s Crazy in Love and Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie. I’ll always listen to them when they come on and I get excited when I hear them.

As for the books, this is a fairly easy question. Not to be a cliche, but I could read Harry Potter forever. I adore those books. They carry so much nostalgia and memories with them, and I just think the story is something I could never get tired of.

The Raven Cycle is something that I can also reread forever, since it’s a book that gets better with each read and there’s always something new to love. I am rereading it right now actually!

And a book that is very lowkey that I’ve read half a dozen of times and that I absolutely love is Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen. It’s a cute contemporary with a lot of great stuff to chew on once you scratch the surface. I love it.

Also, I can’t choose one of anything. Sorry about that.

2. Throwback:

A Song That Reminds You of the Cringiest Time of Your Life/ A Book that Reminds you of that as well (or Just Something You Wouldn’t Like as Much Now)

2

I was so into Tokio Hotel when I was younger, it’s ridiculous. I loved (and I mean LOVED) their music, and my favorite song was probably Monsoon. It’s really funny to me now, but I was such a TH stan back then.

As for books, there’s an equally embarrassing book as the song. It’s obviously Twilight. I used to be a hardcore Twilight fan and I read those books a bunch of times. I would totally hate them now. But I still have fond memories of them.

By the way, this question is amazing, I laughed at myself for 10 minutes straight.

3. Replay:

A Recent Song You Have On Repeat Right Now / A Recent Favorite Book

3

A song I’ve been in love lately is definitely Dua Lipa’s New Rules. I am completely in love with it, it’s on repeat all the time. I also really love Imagine Dragon’s Rise Up. It’s phenomenal.

As for books, two recent favorites are definitely The Hate U Give and The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. I love those two books so much. You can check out my reviews if you want to know more!

4. Gets Me:

This Song is Me/ This Book is Me in Book Form

4

I wouldn’t necessarily say that there’s a song that instantly comes to mind and that is really ME, but there are a lot of ones I relate to. The first that comes to mind is Mother & Father by Broods. I love that song.

As for books, that’s easy. It’s Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl and it’s a book I completely relate to and love.

5. Wut:

Weird But I like It?/ A Unique Book That Stuck Out To You For Whatever Reason

5

I really like Lorde’s Hard Feelings/Loveless. It’s really strange because it’s like two songs in one and has a weird transition in between but I really like it!

As for the books, I recently reviewed Lincoln in the Bardo and it’s definitely the most unique thing I ever read. Same goes for Grief is the Thing with Feathers. I reviewed both so you can check out the reviews for more, but yeah, both weird and unique, both amazing.

6. Let’s Go:

Best Pump Up Song (For Workouts Or Just Life) / A Book That Inspired You

6

A song that really gets me going is Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon. I adore it and it’s so fun and makes you dance. Not shut up, though.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s We Should All Be Feminists is so powerful but also hopeful and inspiring and I love it. I wrote about it and other feminist books in this post.

7. Chill:

Favorite Chill/Relaxing Song/ A Book To Curl Up With On a Rainy Day

7

My favorite chill songs are by Banks, basically her whole Goddess album. I love it. My favorite on it is probably Waiting Game, but I love them all. It’s a really good record.

Other than Harry Potter, I’d say books for rainy days are romance books. A recent favorite is The Hating Game. I absolutely love that one and I read it two times already this year. More about it in my review!

8. Addicting:

Guilty Pleasure Song (Catchy, But Not a lot of Substance)/ Guilty Pleasure (Trashy, Quick, Light) Book

I hate the term guilty pleasure. I don’t feel guilty about the things I like. But that’s besides the point. I have A BUNCH of “guilty pleasure” songs. The first that comes to mind is Maluma’s Felices los 4. You have to listen to it.

Basically any of the stupid romance novels I pick up. They are great fun.

So that’s it for the questions. This tag was so much fun, so thanks again Kayla for tagging me! As for me, I tag:

Mikaela @ The Well-Thumbed reader

Holly @ Nut Free Nerd

Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm

Ilsa @ A Whisper of Ink

Hope you guys can get to it, I’d love to see your music selections!

  1. Thanks so much for participating, I adored reading your answers! I really enjoyed the first book of Harry Potter, but unfortunately I only found The Raven Boys and Along for the Ride to be mediocre. I loved Fangirl too and I can’t wait to read THUG!❤️❤️
